SLIST Data Manifesto – The Short Version

We collect what you share, what you click, and what you vibe with — online and on the dance floor. We use it to run SLIST, improve the experience, and create new things. That includes events, music, merch, art, tech, and whatever future weirdness we dream up.

We may share your data with trusted partners, event collaborators, and platforms that help us operate, advertise, and grow. We might also use it to train AI, power cultural projects, or fuel ideas that don’t exist yet.

We use AI throughout SLIST — it screens the chat, reads our event photos, and makes a lot of what you see. It does not run facial recognition, and it does not make decisions about you that carry legal weight. Section 5 is the whole map.

We protect your info, but no system is unhackable. If that’s a deal-breaker, we understand.

We build culture from data — your clicks, your preferences, your presence on the dance floor.
By using SLIST — online or in person — you give us permission to collect, use, and share your information for any lawful purpose, anywhere in the world.

This document explains exactly how.

1. What We Collect

We collect any information you give us, send us, or generate by interacting with SLIST, including but not limited to:

  • Contact details: name, email, phone, address, usernames.
  • Purchase/payment info: billing address, payment details (processed by our payment and ticketing providers — Stripe and Hi.Events; we never store full card numbers).
  • Account details: logins, preferences, music/event interests.
  • Device & activity: IP, browser, OS, device type, location (approximate or precise), pages viewed, clicks, time spent.
  • Media interactions: tracks you play, mixes you like, content you view.
  • Conversations: emails, texts, DMs, comments, submissions.

We also receive data from partners, ad networks, analytics tools, and public sources.

2. SMS Marketing & Consent

SMS Marketing & Consent

  • By providing your mobile number on our site, at events, or via keyword opt-in (e.g. texting “NYC” to our number), you consent to receive SMS communications from SLIST, including event reminders, ticket updates, and promotional offers.
  • Standard message and data rates may apply.
  • You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance.
  • We record the date, time, and method of your opt-in for compliance purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

By engaging with SLIST, you allow us to use your data for any purpose permitted by law, including:

  • Running and improving our sites, events, and operations
  • Marketing, advertising, and sponsorship deals (including targeted ads)
  • Building AI tools, algorithms, and cultural archives
  • Creating, training, and refining digital products and experiences
  • Selling or licensing anonymized or aggregated data sets
  • Partnering with brands, venues, and other cultural projects
  • Research, analytics, and commercial exploitation of any kind

We may combine your data with other sources to build profiles, predict interests, and guide creative direction.

4. Sharing Your Information

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers, vendors, and promoters
  • Event partners, sponsors, and collaborators
  • Ad networks, analytics platforms, and marketing partners
  • Third parties acquiring part or all of SLIST (through merger, sale, etc.)
  • Any other entity when required by law or to protect our rights and community

We may share data in identifiable, anonymized, or aggregated form.

5. AI & Automated Processing

We build with AI. This is where it touches you.

  • Your messages. Chat messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to screen for abuse and to translate between languages. Screening runs on what you wrote, before it reaches the room. Translations are stored and reused, so identical text is translated once.
  • Photos and video. Our event coverage is analyzed by AI to write captions, tag subjects, score quality, and flag material that shouldn't be distributed. You may appear in it.
  • Event and artist data. We use AI to read public listings, score relevance, and draft artist and DJ biographies from public sources.
  • Your activity. We use models to group interests, rank what surfaces where, and shape what you get shown.

What We Don't Do

  • Our AI providers do not train their models on the data we send them.
  • We don't run facial recognition and we don't build biometric identifiers.
  • We don't let AI make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you. No automated bans, no automated refusals, no model-set pricing.

Our Own Models

We may use what we collect to build and refine our own tools, models, and archives. Where the law requires your consent for that, we ask for it rather than assume it.

Getting Out

  • Photos or video of you: email [email protected] with the event and the image. We remove it and record the removal so an automated re-import can't restore it.
  • Your bio, if you're an artist: email [email protected]. AI-drafted text gets corrected or replaced on request.
  • Chat translation: you choose your own language in chat settings. Messages you send are still translated for readers who chose a different one — that's how the room stays multilingual.

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies, pixels, beacons, and similar tech to:

  • Keep the site running
  • Track usage and preferences
  • Measure marketing performance
  • Serve ads and recommendations
  • Link your activity across devices and services

Some cookies are ours; others belong to partners like Google Analytics, Meta, TikTok, and ad networks.

Your Controls

  • Turn off the sale and sharing of your browse data on Your Privacy Choices. The setting applies to the browser you set it in
  • Send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser. We honor it automatically across our advertising and analytics tags — nothing else to click
  • Block cookies in your browser
  • Opt out of targeted ads via NAI, YourAdChoices, EDAA

7. Social Logins

If you log in through Facebook, X, or others, we get profile info (name, email, avatar, etc.) and may merge it with your SLIST profile for any lawful use.

Google Contacts (optional, and only if you ask for it). If you use the "bring someone" step after subscribing, we ask Google for read-only access to your contacts so you can pick people from your own address book. That covers two things Google keeps separately: the contacts you saved yourself, and the "Other contacts" Google collected automatically from mail you sent or received. We show them as two separate lists so you can tell which is which. We read them once, keep them in your browser for as long as that screen is open, and never write them to our database, log them, or share them. We store no token, so our access ends the moment you close the page. We never message anyone on your behalf — you send the draft yourself, from your own mail client. SLIST's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

8. Data Retention

We keep data as long as we need it — or as long as the law allows — and delete or anonymize it when it’s no longer useful.

9. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, but no system is bulletproof. Use SLIST at your own risk.

10. Minors

SLIST is for 18+. If we find data from minors, we delete it.

11. Your Rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your data
  • Stop targeted advertising and “sharing”
  • Withdraw consent you've given
  • Send you a portable copy of your data

12. Where We Operate

SLIST is a New York business. Our events, our staff, and our records are in the United States, and that is where your information is processed no matter where you use us from.

We don't claim compliance with every privacy regime on earth. Here is what we give everyone, wherever you live:

  • The rights in Section 11, honored on request — not "depending on your jurisdiction"
  • Global Privacy Control signals, honored automatically
  • A straight account of where AI touches your data (Section 5)

If the law where you live gives you a right we haven't listed here, write to us and we'll honor it.

13. Do-Not-Track

We don’t respond to DNT signals at this time.

14. Changes

We may update this policy at any time. Changes take effect when posted here.
