Courtney and Robert Watkins—the Tulsa-born, NYC-based duo behind Coatie Pop and the pioneers of post-techno—are known for their dynamic live performances and a sound that fuses ’80s synth and techno-inspired dance tracks with ethereal sadcore folk ballads. Lovers since ninth grade, Coatie Pop is composed of Mr. Watkins’ bass, sound design, and beats, and Mrs. Watkins’ vocals, lyrics, guitar, and energetic dance performances.
The duo has toured as live act across the U.S. supporting Pixel Grip, in Europe supporting Patriarchy, as well as headlining their own tours and playing countless times around New York City. With their self-released album Deathbed amassing over 1 million streams, Coatie Pop released their second album, Unknown God, in summer 2024, deepening their sonic fascination with techno, trance, and trip-hop. They have collaborated with artists such as Rikhter, released a single via Synthicide, and most recently released their experimental club tracks EP via their own imprint Post-techno. Ravers at heart, Coatie Pop has been working their sound into hybrid sets to establish their place in the rave scene - one that is bound by no genre - only a ride down to your darkest sadness, up and down again.
