Anti-Gatekeeping

If we want everyone to be treated equally on the dance floor, we must first treat everyone equally at the door.

Slist is against arbitrary decisions about access to parties and preferential treatment.

In order to achieve and maintain this non-hierarchical dynamic, it is also necessary that all attendees contribute to the party.

All attendees are considered supporters unless proven otherwise.

The past few years have seen the NYC scene adopt some rather bizarre and pseudo-aristocratic tendencies regarding access to parties. Much of the underground in particular has been infected with a poisonous mindset of preferential treatment based on cliques and even group identity, ironically in the name of “inclusion”. This is deeply troubling to us.

SLIST is against arbitrary decisions regarding access to parties and preferential treatment. We prefer a non-hierarchical dynamic at our doors, and want people to feel welcomed, getting a fair shot at being a part of this community. If we want everyone to be treated equally on the floor, we must first treat everyone equally at the door (the poor rhyme scheme was definitely intentional).

All attendees are considered friends unless proven otherwise.
